At Shivalaya Farm, we understand that
we need to utilize every bit of land, and in fact multi task it, for maximizing output. We follow many measures that help us in optimizing land utilization. Based on our experience, these are some ways in which land utilization can be maximized:
- Crops like Mango and Cashew can be cultivated on sloping land where ample light is available.
- Promising forest crops like Bamboo can be cultivated on waste land. If you can provide irrigation in the initial 3-4 yrs then Acacia Mangium is the best crop for bringing greenery to the field and to grow high in demand timber wood.
- Like we have done, all the fences and road avenues can be planted with Kokam (Garcinia Indica).
- During the planning of intercropping and land utilization, study the water and light requirement of parent and daughter crop in depth. Also, ensure that the root zones of each of the crops have different feeding zones.
