Commercial Farming
Farm management:

Labour and water managements are two main key factors in horticultural farm management. As farm is divided into different plots, labours are alloted as per work requirement in each block.

Labour management: Harvesting of crops, Cleaning of plot, Spraying pesticides, Pruning, Fertiliser application tasks are assigned to labours of each group. Big tasks like grass cutting, Spraying are done by mechanical means. Grass cutters are there with different utility blade mounting facility. Spraying is done by Power sprayer (Tractor mounted) if it is in big scale.Labours are trained for each task.

Water management: Water in most of heavily cropped area is given by flood irrigation. So water required is high, more than 500000 litres per day. We have 150000 litres capacity Overhead tank. We use this stored water when electricity power is not there for pumps. After study of contours of Plot level we designed our irrigation system so that water can be distrusted to any part of the farm with gravity. Banana plats are planted on edge of each water channel to use water available. Each plant is properly mulched to avoid evaporative losses.

Optimising expenses:

1. Major expenses of pesticides, fungicide and fertilisers are minimised by purchasing once in a year.
2. Crops are harvested as per market requirement.
3. Plants are given rest when production is not required.
4. Vegetables plantation is scheduled by keeping watch on market demands.
5. Storage and processing facility for produce.
6. Owned market outlet.
7. Mechanisation of labour intensive works.
8. Preparation of planting material in own nursery.
