Every farm produces
a lot of farm waste. Leaves of plants decompose easily, but pruned branches, Coconut leaves, fronds etc. take a lot of time to decompose. We purchased a chopping machine with 10 hp motor to convert hard wooded waste in to small pieces.
The de-husked Coconut shells are soaked in water and converted in to coco-pith and coir in a specially designed spinning machine.
All converted waste is then heaped for decomposing. Regular watering is done. We carry out EM culture (effective micro-organism culture) decomposing and conventional decomposing with use culture like bio-D. Coco-pith helps in moisture retention and reduces leaching out of soil and compost helps in enriching organic matter.
We use decomposed leaves and plant debris along with vermi-compost and FYM. What ever nutrients are taken by plant is dropped out through their wastes. We re-add to the soil by decomposing plant waste in situ.
